Siamo da poco stati a Cracovia e abbiamo alloggiato al Gamblers Attic AAE Hostel , praticamente in centro, dove abbiamo prenotato una stanza dopia con bagno a 15 euro a testa a notte (senza bagno in camera costerebbe 12 euro). La posizione è buona, tra castello il e Kazimierz. Appena entrati abbiamo trovato un ambiente pulito, ma essendo un ostello non ci sono pulizie durante il soggiorno. Essendo un ostello bisogna adattarsi, ma se si cerca il risparmio e una buona posizione il Gamblers è un’ ottima soluzione.
E’ stato ricavato praticamente nel sottotetto di un palazzo, al quatro piano senza ascensore. Come ambiente è molto piccolo, appena entrati nel corridoio si trova in un angolo la postazione dello staff (generalmente un ragazzo o una ragazza che parlano bene l’inglese presenti dalle 10 alle 23 (se si arriva piu tardi bisogna avvertire).
In un angolo hanno ricavato una piccola cucina (purtroppo però non c’e spazio per mangiare, su un balconcino verandato c’è una specie di bancone con 3 sgabelli dove si puo mangiare guardando fuori se non fa freddo o in camera. Poi a destra c’è la camera senza bagno, a sinistra il bagnetto con doccia e a sinistra in fondo la camera doppia con bagno in camera; accanto all’ingresso una porta da l’accesso alla camerata (dove si sale tramite scale).
L’ambiente nel complesso è molto piccolo (forse troppo) e per essere una soffitta non ha spifferi. Noi ci siamo stati in dicembre, con la neve, e la doppia con bagno ha due finestroni proprio sopra al letto, ma i doppi vetri non avevano spifferi. La camera doppia è sufficientemente grande per ospitare un letto matrimoniale, una poltrona (che eventualmente diventerebbe un terzo letto, e allora si che la camera risulterebbe piccola), un tavolino con due sgabelli, il lavandino (che è fuori dal bagno) e il bagno a parte.
La nota dolente è che manca il riscaldamento, vengono fornite delle stufette a ventola, che dopo un po scaldano l’ambiente, ma alla lunga può risultare rumorosa soprattutto la notte. Altra dota dolente è che l’acqua calda per la doccia è fornita da un boiler e se se ne usa molta bisogna aspettare che si riscaldi nuovamente, c’è l’acqua calda anche in cucina ma non nei rubinetti dei bagni e questo può risultare fastidioso se è inverno.
Ci si arriva abbastanza facilmente. Uscendo stazione dei treni si procede subito a sinistra sul piazzale dove di vedrà uno stradone con una fermata. Si prende il tram numero 10 e si scende alla fermata Stradom (la quarta) appena scesi si gira subito a destra sulla via Dietla (oppure si prende un altro tram per una fermata in direzione fiume), si prosegue portandosi sul lato sinistro del viale. Poco prima del ponte sul fiume al numero 7 c’è l’ostello, non ha insegna, ma c’è il nome sul citofono ed è accanto a un locale con un insegna luminosa: “Casinò Las Vegas”.
La zona è tranquilla e la via Dietla e le vie limitrofe sono piene di esercizi commerciali e bar, inoltre è a due passi dal castello e quindi dal centro, anche se la vista panoramica di cui parlano su alcuni siti di ottiene solo arrampicandosi sul letto e sporgendosi dai finestroni sul tetto :)

Tutto sommato quindi il Gamblers di Cracovia è una buona soluzione se si cerca il risparmio (tra quelli trovati su internet è il più economico nei pressi del centro) ed una buona posizione, lo sconsigliamo nei mesi freddi, ma immaginiamo che possa risultare poco spazioso in alta stagione se pieno.

The location is good, between the castle and Kazimierz. Upon entering we found a clean environment, but being a hostel there are no cleaning during your stay. Being a hostel you have to adapt, but if you try saving the Gamblers and a good location is a ‘good solution.
E ‘was obtained almost in the attic of a building, the four floor without elevator. As environment is very small, just entered the corridor is located in a corner of the desk staff (usually a boy or a girl who speak English well present from 10 to 23 (if you arrive later you must feel).
In one corner they received a small kitchen (but unfortunately there is no room for eating on a balcony porch is a kind of counter with three stools where you can eat looking out unless it’s cold or room. Then right There is a room without bathroom, left the small bathroom with shower and left at the bottom of a double room with private bathroom, beside the entrance door gives access to the room (where you climb steps).
The overall environment is very small (perhaps too) and to be an attic has no drafts. We’ve been there in December, with snow, and a double with bathroom has two windows right above the bed, but the double glazing did not draft. The room is large enough to accommodate a double bed, a sofa (which may become a third bed, and then the room would be small), a small table with two stools, a sink (which is outside the bathroom) and bathroom separately.
The sore point is that we have no heating, fan heaters are provided so that after a little warm the environment, but in the long run can be noisy especially at night. Another sad is that supplied hot water for showers is provided by a boiler, and if it uses a lot of wait for it to warm again, no hot water in the kitchen but not in the bathroom taps and this can be annoying if it’s winter.
It can be reached quite easily. Leaving the train station proceed immediately to the left of the square where you will see a wide road with a stop. Take the number 10 tram and get off at stop Stradom (fourth) just off immediately turn right onto Dietla (or take another tram to a bus stop in the direction of the river), continue carrying on the left side of the avenue. Just before the bridge over the river at number 7 is the hostel, not teach it, but there is a name on the intercom and is next to a room with a neon sign: “Casino Las Vegas.”
The area is quiet and Dietla and nearby streets are lined with shops and bars, is also a stone’s throw from the castle, and then from the center, even if the views of which they speak on certain sites only get on the bed and climbing leaning from windows on the roof:)

All in all then the Gamblers of Krakow is a good solution if you search for savings (including those found on the Internet is the cheapest one near the center) and a good location, do not recommend it in the cold months, but I think it can not be very large in high season when it is full.
